Workforce training funding may be available – here’s how you find your money!
The federal government (and many state governments) have passed legislation allowing for grant money to go towards workforce training programs. Employers can often use this money on programs that bolster their workforce, improve employee retention, etc. – including programs such as Crescendo’s Workforce Retention Bootcamp. Most companies, however, don’t know about thousands of free training dollars available, so they’re not getting the full advantage.
The easiest way to determine if your company is eligible for federal grant money that can help pay for workforce training programs is to find your local or state workforce development board. You can search this database either by your zip code or your state. Your state’s economic development office or labor department may also be helpful.
Plenty of opportunities are out there, but they vary from state to state and in some metropolitan areas, in particular! For example, in Boston, funding through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides money for companies to implement programs that increase employment and retention.
In Wisconsin, there is the Workforce Training Grant Program. Its stated goal is to incentivize businesses to attract and retain talent within the state. Leadership development is a listed component of the programs that this funding will help pay for – which our Workforce Retention Program develops.
Some states – like Kentucky – have funds available, but limit them to certain industries (like food services, manufacturing, healthcare, and construction). Be sure to check that your industry is eligible to receive whatever funding is available in your area.
It will take time to swim through all the funding information out there – but the pot of available funds at the end of the path is well worth the time spent on research for those who qualify. And we’ve already helped clients get approval to pay for HALF of their year-long training programs with us, so don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!
Information is up-to-date as of November, 2018.
